ResearchThere is a need to study children again based on their natural propensity to LEARN, to CREATE KNOWLEDGE....
|
creating learning environmentThe proposal is to create an environment where children have total freedom to explore the world so that their cognitive system evolves autonomously and enables them to engage with and learn the real world. This enables them to create knowledge and also enables them to develop cognitive system to create knowledge instead of analyzing secondhand readymade knowledge as it happens in the current educational system.
Since children imitate the adult behavior the adults also need to be in learning mode without interfering, influencing, and instructing children and do their own work. Within the constraints of the present schools, an activity that will allow children to learn the world is by drawing because what children draw is what they see and experience provided adults don't interfere and influence. In the school, the ‘teacher’ is to be given opportunity to observe, to document, to reflect, to learn, to share what children draw. This will make the teacher a learner. What children 'learn' is what children experience in its entirety. So the adult's behavior, attitude etc are also learned. |
parenting workshopsParenting, one of the most natural phenomena that happens to all living beings, has become a little skewed in the modern times. Most schools follow a similar timetable and similar curriculum designed with conformity and linear thinking in mind. At the same time, many parents are also choosing to home school their children. Still the focus remains on teaching the child, un-intentionally, undermining the child's inherent intelligence and self learning capacity. There is a need to relook at learning and growing afresh; to consider these two as integral to the living processes; to ask the unasked questions.
